eircom today announced that it has successfully delivered a state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure to The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD).  eircom designed and deployed the dynamic ICT platform which enables The CCD to offer a personal and tailored service to its’ customers to support large and small events at the venue.

The network and ICT infrastructure, based on Cisco, Microsoft and HP solutions, has delivered a high level of flexibility to all events held at this landmark venue to date, ensuring an exceptional service experience for staff, exhibitors and delegates.  This result is critical to The CCD because its ICT services and facilities are a key differentiator to position itself as one of the most technically sophisticated convention centres in the world.

eircom’s IT infrastructure provides massive scalability to meet the demands of bandwidth intensive events such as large international conventions with many concurrent users without affecting the quality of communication services to the rest of the staff and customers in the centre.  The end-to-end solution includes a state-of–the-art Cisco Systems powered local area network (LAN), wired and wireless network, secure services for voice data and video and unified communications for the telephony and contact centre services.  (The wireless solution provides coverage throughout the venue, including the two thousand seat auditorium). In addition, eircom provided the desktop and server and storage technology, including Microsoft Sharepoint.

The dynamic ICT platform enables a differentiated delegate experience because The CCD’s event managers and technical production managers can offer flexible and multi-purpose meeting spaces and events addressing the customer’s requirements efficiently.

“eircom worked closely with The CCD to match our demanding business requirements to a flexible and resilient design, and they delivered on time and on budget”, said Killian Carroll, Finance Director, The CCD. “The quality of their programme management, from design through to testing and handover, was outstanding. We are delighted with the results of this investment which is enabling The CCD to develop and deliver an innovative and exciting service for our customers”.

Commenting on the successful delivery of this project, Ronan Kneafsey, Managing Director, eircom Business said “eircom has ensured that the communications within this landmark public building are second to none. Our leading edge solution is tailored to provide The Convention Centre Dublin with maximum efficiency both today and tomorrow.”

This was one of the largest ICT infrastructures deployed in Ireland in the past year and eircom was selected in a competitive tender process because of its expertise and ability to offer an end-to-end solution and be a single supplier to The CCD.  This successful project adds to eircom’s portfolio in delivering future-proof communication platforms to major venues in Ireland including Croke Park and the Aviva Stadium.
