Tuesday, 7th December - 4.00pm There is a fibre break on the underground cable between Listowel and Foynes. The break was reported at lunchtime today. As yet we are unaware of the exact cause of the fibre break.
Service was impacted for approximately 10,000 broadband customers and 750 telephone customers. We have so far restored broadband service to 4,500 customers.
Local repair teams are on site and we have not isolated the area of cable where the break has occurred. Our jointing crews are on route.
Some of the areas affected include Dingle, Millstreet, Lixnaw, Abbeyfeale, Cahirciveen, Ballyspillane, Ardfert, Mounthawk, Rathmore and Castlegregory.
Until the true extent of damage has been assessed by our repair and jointing teams we are unable to give an exact time for full restoration of service.
We would like to reassure all affected customers that we are working as quickly as possible to restore service.
