eircom Next Generation Broadband Announcement
300,000 Customers Now using NGB
Free Speed Upgrades for 20,000 Customers
Price of up to 24Mb NGB Reduced By 17%
Usage Allowance Increased
eircom today announced a number of exciting developments for Next Generation Broadband (NGB).
There are now more than 300,000 customers using eircom’s Next Generation Broadband service at the wholesale and retail level. More than 240 exchanges will be upgraded by the end of 2011. When the planned NGB rollout is complete, more than one million (75%) of eircom’s working lines will be connected to NGB enabled exchange. In December 2010, the Group passed the 250,000 customer milestone.
Free Speed Upgrades
Approximately 20,000 customers currently on the up to 8Mb NGB Advanced product will be upgraded for free to the up to 24Mb NGB Ultimate product, if their line supports faster speeds. Attainable speeds are dependent upon the distance that the signal must travel from the exchange to the customer premise.
The up to 24Mb NGB Ultimate product has been reduced in price by 17% to €39.82 per month (inc VAT). Up to 850,000 customers nationwide can take advantage of this product.
Download Allowance Increase
Currently 110,000 customers on the existing up to 8Mb NGB Regular product will now have their usage allowance increased for free from 30Gb per month to an unlimited monthly data allowance that is subject to fair usage.
Commenting Stephen Beynon, Group Managing Director of Consumer and Small Business, eircom said “eircom continues to develop and evolve our Next Generation Broadband products for our customers. More and more customers are seeing the real value on offer from eircom with improved speeds, reduced prices and additional services such as eircom MusicHub and eircom StudyHub, which demonstrate how to get more from your broadband connection.”
